A content calendar built around special days: a planning guide for businesses in Turkey
Mother's Day, Teachers' Day, Black Friday, New Year's… How to place special days on your content calendar without leaving them to the last minute, and how to pick the ones that fit your industry.

Not every special day is for every brand; pick the ones that fit your industry. Plan your posts around the period when shopping starts, not the day itself: start preparing 2–3 weeks ahead and publish campaign content a few days before.
Special days are moments when customers are already thinking about shopping or celebrating. Planned well, they bring both engagement and sales; left to the last minute, they amount to no more than a hastily prepared post that looks like everyone else's.
Pick the days that fit your industry
You don't have to celebrate every special day. Add to your calendar only the days that have a natural connection to your brand:
- Gifts, flowers, jewelry, cosmetics: Valentine's Day (February 14), Women's Day (March 8), Mother's Day (the second Sunday of May), Father's Day (the third Sunday of June).
- Education, stationery, books: the back-to-school period and Teachers' Day (November 24).
- E-commerce and retail: Black Friday, also called "Efsane Cuma" in Turkey (the last Friday of November), and New Year's shopping.
- Food and drink and local businesses: religious holidays, New Year's and the change of seasons.
On official and national days (e.g. Republic Day on October 29), it is more appropriate to use the language of celebration rather than sales; and on memorial days such as November 10, no campaign posts are made.
Timing: plan backward from the special day
- 2–3 weeks before: Decide on the campaign, the products and the message.
- 1 week before: Reminder and idea content ("5 gift ideas for Mother's Day").
- 2–3 days before: Announce the campaign and the last order date.
- The special day: A celebration post and stories.
Holidays with movable dates (the Ramadan Feast and the Feast of Sacrifice) move about eleven days earlier each year; check that year's dates when you make your annual plan.
Save your special-day content from being ordinary
- Instead of a generic greeting image, place your product or service inside the day.
- Answer the customer's question: a list of ideas for "What gift should I buy?" gets saved more than a straight "discount" announcement.
- If there's a campaign, state the deadline clearly; factor in shipping time.
